- High usage levels for parking facilities expected during summer holiday period

Hamburg Airport is expecting high demand for parking spaces at the start of the school summer holidays in Hamburg (8 July), Schleswig-Holstein (12 July) and Denmark (26 June). In addition to the 12,000 existing parking spaces, the airport is making around 3,000 additional parking spaces available at various overflow car parks in the airport area. Nevertheless, the airport expects that these additional spaces will also be completely taken very quickly. For the coming weeks, Hamburg Airport asks all customers, tenants and visitors to closely monitor the parking situation online at www.hamburg-airport.de under “Getting to the Airport/ Parking”. During the summer holiday period, you should allow more time to find a parking space. Hamburg Airport further advises you to check the possibility of using public transport, i.e. buses and the S-Bahn (metro rail network), to get to the airport.
Since the new P2-P4 parking deck was opened at the end of October 2009, a total of around 12,000 parking spaces are available at Hamburg Airport. This includes 3,700 holiday parking spaces on Weg beim Jäger. With a Holiday Park Ticket, passengers can benefit from discounted parking for stays of one week or more. The ticket is available online at www.hamburg-airport.de and at the travel agent where you booked your journey. As soon as the P8 and P9 holiday car parks are full, the reserve overflow car parks, with around 3,000 additional spaces, will open. Parking attendants, including Danish-speaking personnel, will be waiting at car parks P8 and P9 to advise customers about which overflow car park they should use. They will also issue appropriate tickets for use at the entry to the overflow car parks. You can use these car parks at the economical Holiday Park Ticket rates. Shuttle buses operate back and forth between the overflow car parks and the airport.
